My Approach to Helping
Helping individuals, couples and families explore reasons for feelings of distress, anxiety, hopelessness, confusion, anger or resentment. I provide a safe place to explore distressing feelings in the therapeutic relationship, while offering both acceptance and insights about the difficulties. We begin with current experiences and extend to historical issues from earlier experiences. I help clients work through their perceptions, assumptions, and hidden feelings that could be influencing current relationships, with the goal of greater understanding and acceptance of themselves and others. Allowing clients to band
e heard, accepted, understood and known fosters their growth and relational competence.
I bring both a psychological and spiritual dimension to my work, drawing on resources in the Holy Scriptures and more recent authors, and on therapy modalities such as CBT, DBT, and communications work to address depression, anxiety, conflict management and resolution.
