My Approach to Helping
Right now more than ever we are facing increased stress and trauma as a result of situations beyond our control. Many may feel helpless, scared, or lonely in the face of current events. My goal as a therapist is to meet my clients where they are no matter what. Whether you're at rock bottom or looking for personal growth and increased well-being I want to work collaboratively with you to establish a plan to address and meet your goals. We will work together to determine the root cause of what you're experiencing and create a clear path to finding what you are looking for.
I earned my master's degree in counseling from Northwestern University. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I have served clients experiencing a range of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, and substance abuse. I focus on the integration of techniques from many theories to personalize counseling for each client.
Life can be uncertain and challenging at times and having an advocate work with you to find and help you meet your fullest potential can make a huge difference. I'm here for you.

I believe what happens between sessions is just as important as what takes place in session. I will, at times, offer "homework" for my clients to work on at home to help further the therapeutic process. I also am a fan of offering outside resources which may be beneficial to my clients. Some of these resources may include group counseling, peer support groups, bibliotherapy, creative expression, and more.
I want to find what works best for my clients and empower them to meet their goals. I am never afraid of a challenge and I truly believe anyone who really wants the support of counseling can find success in it.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
"My passion is helping and serving people; I am my best self when I am working hands-on with clients."
What was your path to becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor?
My path to counseling started as a hobby that later blossomed into a passion and calling. I began volunteering on a weekly basis with adolescent girls at an inpatient, dual-diagnosis treatment center. Each week, I facilitated a chemical recovery group for them, and I fell in love with watching each girl grow, change, and come into her own. It was challenging, at times, but the feeling I got seeing their realizations and revelations was enough to counteract any frustrations. I knew I was meant to be a therapist. Later, as a chemical dependency technician for a drug and alcohol detox facility, I gained experience excelling in a dynamic and challenging work environment. My passion is helping and serving people; I am my best self when I am working hands-on with clients. Like many in my generation, I searched for years for a career that would allow me to help make a difference in people?s lives, and this is certainly the one for me. I appreciate every opportunity to learn and grow, both personally and professionally, and to watch my clients grow as well.

What do you do to continue learning and building competencies as a provider?
It is important to me to stay up-to-date on the latest research available in the field of counseling. Beyond that, I remain aware of social pressures and constructs that may aggravate existing mental health challenges. The world we live in is dynamic and complex, so a black-and-white approach simply won?t cut it. I believe maintaining an awareness of the intersectionality of culture, background, and social expectations is key to providing well-rounded treatment through a holistic lens.
How do your own core values shape your approach to care?
I grew up with diversity as the cornerstone of my world. Through the guidance of loving and open-minded parents, I developed a level of compassion and empathy that allows me to truly see each of my clients. I believe that the well-being of my clients supersedes all else that enters my (virtual) counseling office. While my views and perspectives on the world may or may not align with every client I see, my passion for creating a warm and safe environment for clients to speak openly is paramount to my practice. It is my love of people, all people, that enables me to do this. So, come as you are! I?m excited to meet you!
