My Approach to Helping

I believe counseling is a confidential process intended to aid you in dealing with your self-doubts, life-uncertainties, and personal concerns. I believe counseling will help you better understand your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, while you discover more effective coping skills. Consequently, counseling is a relationship between you and me. I am dedicated to helping members of the LGBTQ community who struggle with depression, anxiety, coming out, transitioning, HIV diagnosis, relationships, and social factors. I have also dedicated my life to help those who suffer from addiction issues including alcohol, drugs, sex, and gambling.

I work with individuals from 18-80-years-old. I have developed an eclectic approach to therapy that fits my holistic style. I utilize many different disciplines including cognitive-behavioral, gestalt, existential, solution-focused, and person-centered therapies. I believe that all people are capable of change and strive to become the best that they can be.

I possess the knowledge, motivation, and enthusiasm to assist you in realizing your personal goals through your past and current life experiences. Together we will work on what you think is best for you. My goal is to help you raise your awareness, to achieve your goals, and to discover your personal meaning, growth potential, and psychological health.

More Info About My Practice

I am a member of The American Psychological Association, The American Counseling Association, The Mental Health Counselors of Central Florida, and The National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors.

My most recent passion is working with couples who struggle with effective communication and expression. I work from an evidenced-based perspective to help each partner see the relationship in a more objective manner. My goal is to help you change the way you behave with each other, decrease emotional avoidance and promote the strengths in the relationship.

My professional career spans 30 years before recently entering private practice. For 20 years, I was a corporate trainer specializing in employee motivation. I have spent over 25 years working voluntarily with individuals who struggle with issues of addiction and I have spent the last year working as a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern at an intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization substance abuse center. My greatest achievement has been actively supporting and working with the LGBTQ community for the past 30 years in Connecticut, New York, and Florida.
