My Approach to Helping
Hello! My name is Lucia, and I am a licensed mental health counselor specialized in child development and childhood issues. Please, take a moment. How are you feeling today? Perhaps overwhelmed or maybe worried about your child and whether they’re happy? That’s where I come in, as I have vast experience working with children and adolescents and help them work through the many issues they face as they grow and develop. I can help your child manage unhelpful behaviors, become aware of, and connected to their emotions, strengthen their coping skills, improve academic performance, and have a more positive outlook on life.
I would like to invite you to take the first step and thank yourself for taking care of you and asking for help. Drawing from evidence-based practices and the most up to date research, I will help your child grow and develop into happy, successful, and self-sufficient young adults.
On our first session, I’ll gather information; history and little quirks. Next, we’ll spend some time reflecting on your goals and together we will lay out the best plan to accomplish everything you want. I’ll get to know your child, their awesome personality, and what makes them strong and resilient. With my expertise and your willingness to help your child and support them, there is absolutely nothing you child can’t achieve, I truly believe that.
More Info About My Practice
I currently offer both virtual and in person sessions. My office is located in South Beach, a beautiful location with parking in the building. You can book your first session on my website in just two days. If I don’t currently take your insurance, I also offer private pay. I offer other services as well like workplace accommodation letters or immigration support documentation. Please reach out and we can talk about it.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
I always tell this story of when I was in a session with a 5-year-old and he decided we should do a tattoo sleeve with those stick-on tattoos. We asked his dad, and he okayed it. We did it on both of us and had so much fun on our session. Fast forward to that evening and I am out to dinner with my parents at a very nice restaurant in a dress with my arm covered in stick-on tatts. I am very hands on with kiddos and love to leave space for creativity after we get the learning part done. It?s important to let kids be themselves and free to express their emotions in a safe space. With teens I am very quick to bond with, I am young, I know what is going on in the world, and I?ve had the coolest life so, I am not just pretending to be ?cool? :D I also have the utmost respect for you parents and caregivers. I know how much you sacrifice and how much love you put in raising your children. And that is why I do what I do. I can be that little bit of help so that not only your children get additional support, but you get some time to focus on you and your needs as well.
