My Approach to Helping
Are you hiding behind a facad, afraid to let people, and yourself, see the real you?
For so many of the adults, and the elderly I have worked with I have found that it's their ungrieved losses, unresolved guilt, or unforgiven shame that go neglected. When we see these things go untended they can be observed in the shape of addiction, and other compulsive and numbing behaviors. Is it possible you might be neglecting untended wounds of your soul?
I specialize in helping you to live fully and soulfully with the effects of past and ongoing Trauma.
My approach is grounded in the research of Bessel van der Kolk, well-known for his still best-selling book, "The Body Keeps the Score" as well as the work of fellow practitioners who have focused on the benefits of Mindfulness-Based work, and developing a personal instruction manual in how to BE Your Own Hero.
And because the best approach to tending Trauma starts from the "bottom up" there is homework to practice self-care between sessions. Yeah, we're gonna talk a bit about your trauma and anger, but mostly, the work is done by you at home or in the community trying on new and different ways of tending to yourself.
