My Approach to Helping
Life is amazingly beautiful and difficult. We all suffer due to relational issues. My approach to working with Individuals and Couples is collaborative and strengths based. Therapy is incredibly fun and meaningful work! I work from a Relational Gestalt lens and we will look at what is actually happening to you, as well as how to move more fully into whom you would like to become. With Couples work I am very interested in what is already working for you both, as well as what gets lost, and how you can actually become more connected. I also believe in Somatic healing and am trained in EMDR which is highly effective in treating all forms of trauma. I am also a certified sex therapist which makes me particularly knowledgeable in working with interpersonal and relational issues.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist
To me there is nothing more meaningful than helping you live your best and most authentic life. Self exploration, evaluation, and change of self and relationships is the most important work that any of us can do.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Personally, I believe that It is very important that you feel safe with your therapist. A therapist should engage in constant learning, continuing education, and supervision. A great therapist should challenge you and be supportive and non judgmental and non shaming. I know first hand how challenging it is to find a great therapist with whom you can really be all aspects of yourself with and fully trust. We will work towards making sure that our relationship is as safe and honest as any relationship that you have ever experienced. It is essential to me that the work that we are doing will facilitate you in becoming a more fulfilled, enriched, and engaged person.
My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'
I believe dis-orders come when we are dis-connected from who we are and what is important to us. We are all doing the best that we can, and yet we also all need a lot of tools and support to improve how we are living. I believe the essence of great therapy provides all of those things. A great beginning step would be to think of your initial goals. If therapy was as successful as possible, how would we know? What would your life look like? How would it feel to be you? This is an essential place to start. Look forward to connecting!
