My Approach to Helping
The more we understand about ourselves, the better we can be to ourselves and those around us. I think of therapy as a creative and collaborative process that allows for a deeper, more integrated sense of oneself to emerge over time. I work with clients to help them better understand and navigate their experiences so that they can feel more authentic and aligned as they move through the world.
I’m pretty active in sessions, and my style is warm and conversational. My work draws from psychodynamic, relational, and affirmative therapeutic models, but I am not a zealot of any particular modality. The work I do with you in the room will be based on who you are. My role is to help constellate your experiences by finding connecting elements and patterns as they emerge in our work together and to provide perspective that might help.
The relationship between client and therapist is one that allows for self-discovery and experimentation. It’s a collaborative exchange that can be spontaneous and surprising. While therapy can bring up difficult feelings and memories, it can also inspire play, insight, and imagination. I work with individuals and dyads of all kinds to come to better self-understanding and create more satisfying relational dynamics.
