My Approach to Helping

As a woman of color, my goal is to help families and couples cancel generational cycles that are harmful and stunt growth.

Kiara Armstrong is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) who specializes in treating a number of mental health issues which include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), women’s issues, and mood disorders. Kiara also specializes in helping couples and families break the multigenerational patterns that promote painful cycles of stagnation. Kiara worked for 2 years as a Community Counselor with EurAupair Intercultural ChildCare Program. As Community Counselor, Kiara was a fervent advocate for the aupairs who provided live-in childcare for local families while outside of their home countries. Kiara was a liaison between families and aupairs to bridge the gap between language barriers, cultural differences, and conflict resolution. Not only does Kiara’s experience make her a well-rounded counselor, but it also allows her to connect with multiple clients from various backgrounds.

Kiara completed her bachelor’s degree in Health Education at North Carolina Central University and her Master of Science (MS) in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling at Walden University. She is a National Certified Counselor. Kiara’s passion for helping people began at a young age when she realized that a growing number of people do not live in loving and functional environments. However, Kiara was determined to help anyone she could to know that healthy relationships are possible and attainable.

Kiara brings a calm and welcoming approach into the therapy space. Uniquely, her interpersonal and humanistic approach creates the environment for client growth and development. Kiara believes in her clients and the power they possess within. Our light can be dimmed with the challenges we face in life and sometimes we need to be reminded that it is there. Sometimes we need to be reminded that we have the power to “try”, no matter what it is we are trying to accomplish.
