My Approach to Helping
My philosophy is simple. Life is rough...let's get through this together. My approach is to go above and beyond in meeting you where you are at. I love working with families that have tried before and failed and feel like giving up. I utilize a creative approach and focus on the deeper process not "just the problem". I believe in an honest and authentic approach and believe that change happens within the therapy room. My patients report that this can be a safe place to learn to "who and what I am" in order to "get what I need".
Are you a person who feels intense emotions and struggle to understand why and how to handle them? We can work on improving your relationship with yourself and learn that this is an amazing skill to have. I believe this can be a great source of power. It is important to remember however just like Marvel's Spider Man "with great power comes great responsibility". I will teach you how to harness this amazing gift without increasing your co-dependency and self-hatred.
If you or a loved one has tried and failed therapy I can help you get back on track!

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I utilize a unique approach to therapy and believe that each person has different needs. I specialize in using Cognitive Therapy, which offers fast results, often within 4-6 weeks. Once the immediate concerns are addressed I often weave in other therapy approaches such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, art and music therapy, and psychoanalytic therapy. DBT is now the gold standard in treating Eating Disorders, addictions, anxiety, depression, and Borderline Personality Disorder. I treat individuals, families, couples, and offer group therapy experiences.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
I believe that finding a therapist is like finding a great barber or hair stylist. Anyone can cut hair. You want to find a therapist that gets you and what you need. You need a therapist that knows what they are doing and is able to share life with you. This is an interview process. Don't be afraid to "get real" with your therapist and interview them. They can have the best degree and resume but may not fit your needs. My encouragement to you is to treat this as a working interview and feel free to question your therapist and trust your instincts as a response. Good luck!
