My Approach to Helping
In therapy I do a lot of listening and am fairly nondirective. I have experience with a variety of mental health issues but focus on working with issues related to trauma, clients who struggle with lack of self worth or lack of meaning. I use both Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy and Existential Therapy.
I help clients explore their beliefs, thoughts and emotions for patterns that are tripping them up and make adjustments in addition to exploring their lives for meaning and purpose. I also feel that therapy is useful in providing a safe and confidential place to vent. I enjoy working with clients who are looking to grow into more fully actualized human beings.
The biggest predictor in success in therapy is if you feel heard by your therapist and feel that they are on your side. It can be frustrating to find a therapist that you feel it a good fit, but it is worth the work. I hope I can help.
