My Approach to Helping
Utilizing a treatment approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I collaborate with you in developing the ability to increase psychological flexibility through the practices of mindfulness, cognitive defusion, acceptance, values clarification-construction, and committed action. This approach is often effective in changing one's relationship with unpleasant internal experiences (thoughts, feelings, memories, etc.) and promoting action in the service of one's chosen life directions. My interests include working with adolescent and adult individuals struggling with depression,anxiety,substance misuse and other obstacles to living a meaningful, purposeful and engaged life.
