My Approach to Helping
Utilizing a treatment model called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other CBT-based -Humanistic approaches, we collaborate in developing your ability to increase psychological flexibility through the practices of mindfulness, cognitive defusion, acceptance, values clarification-construction, and committed action. This approach is often effective in changing one's relationship with unpleasant unwanted internal experiences (thoughts, feelings, memories, and body sensations) and promoting action in the service of one's chosen life directions. My interests include working with adolescent and adult individuals struggling with symptoms of depression, anxiety, substance abuse-misuse and other obstacles to living a meaningful, purposeful and engaged life. My approach is from a secular, non-religious, evidence-based perspective.
