My Approach to Helping
Utilizing a cognitive-behavioral treatment approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), I attempt to increase psychological flexibility through the practice of mindfulness, acceptance, values clarification/construction, and committed action. This approach is often effective in changing one's relationship with unpleasant internal experiences (thoughts, feelings, memories, etc.) and promoting action in the service of one's chosen life directions. My interests include working with adolescent and adult individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, substance misuse and other obstacles to living a meaningful, purposeful and engaged life.
