My Approach to Helping
Let me begin by saying that I am honored you are reading my biography! It wasn't so long ago that I was trying to muster up the courage to see a counselor myself. The counseling process changed my life, and ultimately inspired me to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and to pursue additional training as a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC). I earned both a Master in Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University.
My background includes working in acute psychiatric care, assessmentdiagnoses, and psychotherapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I am also experienced working with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, ADHD, and many other mental health concerns.
I consider it a privilege to work with those who struggle with some of life’s greatest challenges and have the greatest respect for the courage and hard work that is often required to engage in the therapeutic process. I consider myself a “tour guide,” and often use cognitive-behavioral, EMDR, client-centered andor solution-focused orientations to help you navigate through some of life’s toughest experiences. If another approach is needed, I will work hard to find the therapeutic orientation that works best for you for the situation(s) that may be pressing in all around you. Outside of the office, I enjoy traveling, reading, and whitewater rafting.
Thanks again for taking the time to read more about me. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
