Billing and Insurance:
I am an in-network provider for:
  • Aetna
  • Beacon
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)
  • Cigna
  • UMR
  • United Behavioral Health
Fees: For insurance patients, once I am able to verify your benefits I can give you more specifics on patient responsibility for your specific insurance plan. If I am not in network for you, and you have out of network coverage, I am happy to submit claims and process billing. No need for you to request a super-bill and submit to insurance for reimbursement after paying out of pocket.

For self pay patients, intake sessions are $275, individual sessions are $225, and skills classes are $100.
Sliding scale payment are available, these are limited in availability. I am a proud member of providers listed with OpenPath Psychotherapy Collective. If you are struggling financially, you can register with their database for a one time fee of $65, to receive your member ID and discuss sliding scale options with myself, or any of the providers you find in their system.

No call-no shows, and cancelations less than 24 hours from your appt time are charged your self pay rate or your insurance providers contracted rate for the service missed. I honestly do not like enforcing this policy, I would much rather reschedule, but if less than 24 hours there might not be available times, I cannot bill insurance for the time I have reserved for you if you are not present, and this deprives others of available appts. As such, reminders are sent out 48 hours in advance of appts via text and email to prevent late cancelations and missed appts. As soon as you know, let me know and we can problem solve what to do.

My Approach to Helping

Before private practice, I worked for University of Texas Medical Branch-Correctional Managed Care within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I have a passion for working with serious mental health issues, and working in TDCJ reinforced a desire to focus more on earlier interventions. This motivated me to receive training in various approaches to tailor treatment for each unique patient. I have experience treating psychosis spectrum, mood, and personality issues, as well as a number of other presenting concerns. My goal is to collaborate with you to find an appropriate therapy approach and help you build a life in line with your values.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

I do not seek to label patients with diagnoses, and these labels are an uncomfortable yet necessary part of therapy. They can convey needed information regarding what is being experienced, currently occurring, and what treatments would be more appropriate compared to others. However, identification with a diagnosis can hinder personal growth and our own abilities. I instead emphasize and encourage focus on current behaviors patterns that are negatively impacting aspects of our lives, in the domains of functioning that are most important to you.

Groups I Work With

I work with varied populations and ages. With children between the ages 7-12 experiencing behavioral difficulties including disruptive mood dysregulation (DMDD), utilizing dialectical behavior therapy for children (DBT-C). Dialectical behavior therapy for children focuses more on the environment responses before and in addition to the child’s, in order to reinforce and model more effective coping responses, while increasing mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal, and distress tolerance skills to parents and patients.

I also see teens, young adults, and adults for a wide range of presenting concerns including personality challenges, including borderline personality, self-harm, posttraumatic stress (PTSD), bulimia, binge-eating, depression, anxiety, substance use, and bipolar issues. Dialectical behavior therapy often treats populations that have suffered abuse, invalidation, suicidal ideation, and have often engaged in suicide attempts or self-injurious behavior without the intent of suicide. These individuals often struggle with impulse control and experience legal difficulties. That being said, I have worked within a maximum security psychiatric prison, and I am comfortable working with incarcerated or recently released populations. I have seen patients via telehealth and in person while they were incarcerated to maintain care and satisfy court requirements.

In addition, I utilize Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy for patients suffering from overcontrol of emotional expression coping styles. This multimodal approach treats a wide range of issues including maladaptive perfectionism, high functioning autism spectrum, anorexia nervosa, treatment-resistant depression, and obsessive-compulsive personality challenges. These are often hard-to-treat populations that have high levels of competence, ability, and attention to details, combined with shame and other negative emotions. However, they suffer in silence without others knowing and often have high difficulty finding a tribe, feeling accepted, or even knowing where to begin.
