My Approach to Helping
My job is to help you feel supported, safe, and inspired to grow, learn, and overcome life's obstacles. I understand that the most important first step towards change is finding a counselor you can trust. I can help to teach you, your family, or your child the skills you need to manage overwhelming emotions, communicate more effectively, and improve the quality of your relationships. I will utilize my creativity, passion, and objectivity to help you uncover your own inner strengths, while learning to love yourself first!
I'm a licensed counselor, and have specialized training in EMDR trauma therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT),childhood trauma, play therapy, and cognitive-behavior therapy (CBT). I've worked with children, adults, adolescents, families, and couples to manage issues such as anxiety and worry, depression, low self-esteem, ADHD, relationship difficulties, bullying, oppositional and defiant behaviors, self-harm, abuse and trauma, loss and grief, addiction, life transitions (i.e. new baby, marriage, divorce, or move), and eating disorders. I deeply believe in the human capacity for resiliency and change. You don't have to feel stuck. I know change is never easy, but it truly is worth it. I'm excited to start this journey with you!
