Hi, I am Karen Wister Kearns, LPC. I have been a certified and licensed therapist for 35 years. My primary objective is to help my clients help themselves through difficult times in their lives. My work is focused on adults only. Working with older adults is one of my areas of interest. Early on it became apparent that using pets with clients helped break barriers and reduced stress. This helped clients feel more comfortable entering into a counseling relationship. TeleMental Health allows my clients to see me from their homes and if desired bring a pet if they wish to counseling with them via video conferencing. The loss of family and friends including a cherished pet is a traumatic experience and counseling also helps clients deal with the grieving processes after such traumatic losses. TeleMental Health opens the door to many clients, ones who are homebound, disabled, suffering chronic pain, living a distance from a counseling office or those with busy schedules that do not have time to come to an office. Clients may enjoy the convenience of TeleMental Health from home or their office. I am licensed in Arizona and Pennsylvania and South Carolina and Board Certified in TeleMental Health and Board Certified as a Geriatric Counselor. I only serve clients in states in which I am licensed.

Clients are invited to bring their pet to their counseling sessions if they wish. Sometimes pets help break barriers providing support necessary to enhance your counseling experience and hopefully reduce anxiety and stress. Pets are optional.
