My Approach to Helping
I am currently licensed to practice in both Idaho and Washington. I have worked in a variety of settings, including intensive outpatient, with individuals experiencing severe and persistent mental illness. Over the years, I have focused my therapy practice on supporting survivors of trauma including those who have experienced domestic violence, sex trafficking, childhood trauma, relational trauma, and betrayal. I also have significant experience in supporting those recovering from abusive partnerships.
I utilize a trauma informed holistic approach, pulling from therapeutic modalities such a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered and Somatic Therapy techniques. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I understand the impact trauma has on the brain and the body. I acknowledge that trauma is a physiological experience that lives in our body and needs to be expressed in a safe and therapeutic way.
I believe, given the right environment, anyone can heal, grow, and prosper. I work to ensure the counseling environment is one of safety, warmth, and hope so that my clients can explore all parts of themselves to become once again whole. It is through greater awareness that individuals can begin to feel more authentic, relaxed, and at peace once again with themselves.
