My Approach to Helping

I apply a person-centered approach to counseling which means rather than viewing people with mental health needs as inherently flawed, with problematic behaviors and thoughts that require treatment, I recognize that each person has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change. I use various counseling techniques such as unconditional positive regard, and theories such as Nurture Play Structure (NPS), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy, and Gestalt therapy as well as psychoeducation to provide the utmost individualized plan of care and professional counseling support. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process and guides clients to increase self-awareness, and gain new perspectives. Through my work, I strive to foster a safe space where clients can tell their story, gain insight into how that has impacted them, and create a new reality that is more fulfilling.
