My Approach to Helping
Hello. My name is Gloria Gitlin. My purpose in working as a counselor is to help individuals reclaim their feeling of security and a sense of well-being. We all from time to time feel sideswiped by unforeseen circumstances and drift off the chosen track. This is unsettling and disruptive to a harmonious life and sometimes makes us feel less than what we really are. Counseling can help us to re-evaluate our thinking and our feelings in order to investigate the truth of our being or even the reality of our feelings. Others’ perceptions and beliefs about us sometimes influence how we think about ourselves. This, however, should not determine how we think and feel. We all wish for and would like a guilt-free, burden-free, conflict-free existence in which we can thrive and fulfill our potential—to have a feeling of liberation from those things which have bound us through life. This is possible if we clear our thinking and operate on the truth rather than blind belief. This can be accomplished in several ways. In counseling, we will consider your thoughts, beliefs, feelings, current relationships, past relationships, activities, behavior, feelings about others in your circle, etc., and if you like, your spirituality.
