My Approach to Helping

My approach to counselling is a holistic and integrative framework. I take into account you as a whole person, considering your emotional, psychological, social, and spiritual well-being with an emphasis on trauma-informed care and nervous system regulation.

I provide an adaptable therapeutic process that is tailored to each one of your needs and preferences through various tools, resources, and interventions. In doing so, I value a strong therapeutic bond (You + I) that stems from respect, trust, honesty, empathy, and collaboration. This bond sets the foundation for your comfortability opening up, being your authentic self, and sharing your inner and external world which is at the heart of therapy.

I offer a therapeutic environment that is safe for you to be seen and heard, facilitating personal growth and development through a non-judgmental, anti-oppressive counselling experience. My goal is to support and assist you as you navigate and build your understanding of yourself and the world around you, to enhance their quality of life and well-being.

I offer sessions online and over the phone, based on your preference.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

So often we hold the perception that a therapist will only know what it's like to be a therapist and never a client themselves. That they wouldn't understand what it's like to enter into the world of therapy as a client. Well, I'm here to challenge that perception as I have been on both sides of the therapy coin, as the therapist and the client.

I know from my struggles what it's like to be on the other side wondering and even worrying at times if I will truly be understood, listened to, and not judged. At times feeling scared to meet with someone new, uncomfortable opening up, and challenged at times as I worked through things that I often tried to push away or ignore. Entering into therapy as a client has helped me better understand what therapy can look like from both perspectives, guiding me as a therapist and better supporting you as a client.
