My Approach to Helping
I am here to listen with empathy as I try to see the world from your view. I want to help you change your unwanted thoughts, feelings, and action. I use EMDR to help you connect your present knowledge and positive experiences to the past trauma, or perhaps expectations of perfection from your parents or siblings. Throughout our lives people go through hard times. Perhaps we are bullied or are in a car accident. If the event was repetitive or shocking our mind gets stuck. Then anything that reminds us of the event brings back the feeling. When we reprocess with the knowledge of the present, we can let go of the past emotions and grow.
Most depression and anxiety are traced to our past. I can help you get to the root of your issues and reprocess through it with bilateral stimulation. People hold on to trauma; big T (abuse), or small t, (getting bullied by your siblings). Once reprocessed our mind is able to put the event in our history and let go of the triggers to facilitate change.
The body and mind are able to let go of the emotions associated with the past issues. The best thing about EMDR is that your mind gives you the answers. I use EMDR with other theory\'s depending on what you need and want. You make the goals, and I will do my best to give you options that will help. Therapy is emotionally hard, but the reward is life changing.
