My Approach to Helping
I provide therapy for couples and families to address relationship issues. I use a systemic approach to therapy, specifically using EFT (Emotionally-Focused Therapy) to help couples and families repair and improve connection in their relationships. A systemic approach to therapy is about seeing the relationship as "the client". EFT is a well researched model of couples therapy that has been shown to significantly reduce distress in couples, and can be applied to families as well. EFT helps couples identify negative cycles of interaction in their relationships and then helps them learn to be more emotionally responsive to each other, strengthening bonds and a loving connection. Healthy and loving relationships are an integral part of our well-being, and whether you are seeking couple or family therapy, I look forward to being able to assist you in meeting your relationship goals.
More Info About My Practice
I also facilitate a couples workshop called "Hold Me Tight, Conversations for Connection". This workshop is usually held over a weekend and provides education in a group setting as well as more private opportunities for you to practice conversation and connecting with your partner. Couples will learn about love and relationships and how to repair and strengthen their relationship. For additional information, please contact me.
Upcoming Workshop: Friday, April 13th 2017 1pm-8pm and Saturday, April 14th, 2017 9am-5pm. Registration is $450 per couple or $400 if registered by March 2nd.
My Role as a Therapist
I understand and appreciate the courage that it takes to open up a personal part of your life to a stranger. My role is to provide a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment that promotes honest expression of thoughts and feelings. My goal is for everyone to feel heard and validated. I will take a collaborative approach to help couples or family members process their emotional experience and learn new ways to reconnect.
On the Fence About Going to Therapy?
Deciding to invest in therapy can be a difficult decision. Therapy can be emotionally challenging, expensive, and difficult to fit into the schedule of a busy family. I encourage you to take the time to think about your relationship goals and then research different providers and models of therapy. Your relationship with the therapist and the approach they use are significant factors in determining whether therapy will be successful or not. However if you find the right fit, the return on your investment can be immeasurable. I am available by phone or in person for consultation at no charge to determine if I am a right fit for you.
