My Approach to Helping

I help adults who feel scared or broken see their strength, break the cycles of dysfunction, and move from "surviving" to "thriving." So many of us carry our hurt around for YEARS before we do anything about it - because it is hard to trust others, we feel damaged, or we just need to keep going as best we can. If you are ready to dig deeper in an honest, compassionate, and safe space, it is my privilege to walk beside you.

My approach is active, collaborative, and straight-forward. Trust is earned and built over time in any relationship, even in therapy, and growth happens at your own pace. I strive to provide a safe context, honest reflection, and compassionate inquiry.

Together we will work together on a full understanding of the source of your pain and help you unravel and make sense of your internal conflicts and feelings. We will address past experiences, what is going on for you now, and where your internal compass tells you you would like to go. We will look at the relationships in your life - with your family, partner, and most importantly, your relationship with yourself. I will likely push you to reflect, think, and develop insight; I always aim to do so in a way where you still feel truly cared for. We will create the space for you to grow into yourself, become more aware, make sense of past scary experiences, and move towards the life you want to live.

I am an out of network provider and provide a Superbill at the end of the month if you wish to submit to your insurance for out of network benefits.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I die a little inside whenever I hear a therapy horror story. Thankfully this is more rare, though not rare enough. For those who fall in this category - I'm sorry you had a negative experience and I hope you lean into your grit and find a provider who is worth their salt. I understand if you are skeptical or need a lot more time to build trust.

Even for those who haven't had a negative experience, finding a therapist who is a good fit can feel daunting. There are many different kinds of therapists and no therapist is a good fit for every client. While it may take time for a therapist to fully get to know you or for you to build trust with a new person, you want to feel that the therapist is listening and trying to understand. Listen to your gut ? is it telling you this person jives with you? Do you think you COULD build trust with them in the future? If after a few sessions with me you are questioning whether I am the right therapist for you, please talk to me. I am invested in you receiving the care you need, even if that doesn't happen to be with me, and can offer other referrals based on what you are looking for.
