My Approach to Helping

My approach to helping my ideal client, teens and young adults, is rooted in a holistic perspective that takes into account their unique needs, experiences, and aspirations. I believe in addressing mental health concerns by considering the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit.

In our therapeutic journey together, I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where your teen or young adult can express themselves freely. I believe in the power of active listening, empathy, and building a trusting therapeutic relationship. By truly understanding their challenges, experiences, and goals, I can tailor the treatment to meet their specific needs.

I utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, DBT, mindfulness practices, and solution-focused strategies, to empower your teen or young adult in managing anxiety, depression, and irritability. These approaches enable them to gain insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and develop practical skills to navigate their challenges effectively.

Additionally, I recognize the importance of their autonomy and personal choice in their healing process. I provide education, support, and guidance to help them make informed decisions about their health and well-being. By empowering them with knowledge and fostering self-awareness, they can actively participate in their own growth and make choices aligned with their values.

Moreover, I take a strengths-based approach, focusing on their unique qualities, talents, and resilience. By highlighting their strengths, we can build upon their existing resources to promote personal growth, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate a sense of empowerment.

Ultimately, my goal is to support your teen or young adult in discovering their best selves, finding their voice, and navigating life's challenges with confidence. Together, we will work towards creating positive change, fostering emotional well-being, and nurturing a foundation for their present and future success.

If you believe that your teen or young adult could benefit from this approach, I would be honored to accompany them on their journey towards personal growth and empowerment.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

I understand that the idea of having your child talk to someone about their thoughts and feelings can be daunting. I have personally gone through a similar experience. My own daughter faced years of struggles with depression, and we went through a journey of finding the right support for her.

During that time, she was prescribed medication, and we also explored complementary interventions to enhance her well-being. Through research and collaboration, we discovered additional approaches that proved beneficial for her. This experience taught me the value of patience and respecting her autonomy in selecting the interventions that felt right for her.

I recognize the importance of honoring your child's agency and empowering them to make choices regarding their mental health. I understand the significance of finding a therapeutic approach that aligns with their preferences and needs. As a result, I am dedicated to providing a supportive and understanding environment where your child can feel safe and comfortable sharing their thoughts and concerns.
