Hola! I'm Denisse. I am the Founder of Ancestral Therapy- a relational, non-pathologizing, liberation centered, and culturally affirming therapeutic lens for first gen, children of immigrants, bicultural identifying folk, and black or brown bodies that want to break cycles of generational trauma & reclaim to the wisdom of their bodies, culture, and ancestors. Reconnecting to my own Latinx culture, ancestors, roots, and motherland in this last year has been medicine for me and a core part of my development as a psychotherapist that has influenced by journey of decolonizing mental health care.
Currently, I offer bilingual, telehealth services in Spanish, English to individuals who reside in California, draw from attachment (relationship), somatic (body), experiential (sensory) and mindfulness-based (present moment) modalities, & weave in elements of social justice, spirituality, animism, and ancestral veneration to my work.
Overall, I will teach you to follow the guidance of your mind, body, and spirit and believe that symptoms are not something to go to war with or get rid of, but rather can be a compass to identify emotional pain and oftentimes carry teachings and lessons that prompt us to break cycles of generational trauma that run in our families. As I like to say, "It ran in your lineage, until it ran into you."
