My Approach to Helping

I have come to understand therapy as a loving exchange that holds the potential to repair the heart. This is what I strive to offer to each of my clients and what you can expect from me.

Although I know this life is filled with uncertainty, heartbreak, confusion, overwhelm and un-nameable wounds, I have also found that there is profound potential for meaningful connection, clarity, and joy. Let’s work together to learn new ways of navigating life’s struggles and rediscover the magic of your existence.

Our focus will be on building a strong and supportive therapeutic relationship so that you can explore and know yourself more fully, including who you are and want to be in relationship to others. We will work together to identify the relational roots of your strengths as well the roots of what troubles you so that we can untangle and tend towards growth.

Together we will seek to understand the connections in your life that matter to you and shape you. This might include your relationships with family, friends, work, death and loss, identity, community, spirituality, power and privilege, and your relationship to Self.

My approach is holistic, trauma-informed, strengths-based, and focused on the profound and unique potential of YOU. I am an active participant in the therapy session, and I will support you to explore through storytelling, movement, sensation and body awareness, images, metaphors, and by tapping into the mysterious and implicit aspects of your experience. I will also always follow your lead and only ever go as deep as you want to go.

None of us are capable of healing in isolation. We need other people, and we need to feel connected to the universe of things around us. We are hurt in relationship, and we heal in relationship. Through mutual understanding and awareness, we can make room for the change you hope for. I would be honoured to walk beside you on this journey.

More Info About My Practice

I am a therapist, but I am also a lifelong learner and client. I meditate, create, move, research, and engage in personal weekly therapy and supervision so that I continue to grow and evolve, and can show up for clients with accountability, presence, and an open heart. If there are particular things you would like to learn in our work together, I will be your learning partner.

Psychotherapy is most effective when it is frequent and consistent, and I ask that clients commit to weekly sessions to start. You and I will also discuss our expectations around how often we will meet and the number of sessions you will spend with me. I will always be guided by your needs and circumstances.

Please let me know if you require an accommodation to access and fully participate in the services I offer. I would like to collaborate in navigating accommodations together.

Clients must be 18+ and reside in Canada.
