My Approach to Helping
I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and symptoms of trauma during the perinatal period and beyond. My goal is to help you emerge from the struggles of parenting with a newfound clarity and presence. We will work together to help you design a lifestyle that will allow you to be well cared for so that you can be the best parent possible. We will focus on solutions like helping you create and maintain a self-care routine and how to build a supportive village to help ease the burden of caring for littles. Parenting is the hardest and most stressful job in the world. It can also be the most rewarding if you have enough support. I have been providing mental health care since 2006 and I am trained in the treatment of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders by Postpartum Support International (PSI).
More Info About My Practice
For most of us, becoming a parent changes our lives so dramatically that we may lose sight of the person and parent we truly wish to be. Many of us think "this is not how I thought it would be" at some point during the perinatal period. Parental stress can cause parents to experience anxiety, (sometimes scary) intrusive andor obsessive thoughts, marital conflict, and communication breakdown during the first weeks, months, and years of parenting.
My approach is warm, client-centered, and solution-focused. We will work together toward designing a lifestyle that supports you in becoming the parent you long to be.
My Role as a Therapist
My role as a therapist is to ultimately make myself redundant. You are already equipped with the power to heal yourself and create the life you want to live. With a solution-focused lens, I am here to facilitate your forward progress toward your goals and get out of the way once you have built up enough momentum.
