My Approach to Helping
I believe in the power of compassionately and nonjudgmentally acknowledging that being a human is hard. I provide a safe place to explore what is holding you back or keeping you stuck while helping you to identify and access your inner strengths and resources for healing and growth. I focus on helping you to find balance by exploring your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of wellbeing and increasing your self-care behaviors in order to reduce symptoms and to improve wellbeing. Many of our life experiences are outside of our control, but we can learn how to deal with our, sometimes difficult, reality by living more in the present and making healthy choices that are in line with our values and goals.
More Info About My Practice
There can be many goals for the therapy relationship. Some of these will be long-term goals such as learning to live mindfully, committing to making life choices in line with your values, and moving towards self-actualization. Others may be more immediate goals such as decreasing anxiety and depression symptoms, developing healthy relationships, changing unhelpful behaviors, increasing self-care behaviors, and building confidence and healthy boundaries.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I provide services for teens and adults. I treat a variety of issues including, but not limited to: depression, anxiety, stress and overwhelm, life adjustment and transition difficulties, boundary issues, lack of assertiveness, communication breakdowns, perfectionism, and low confidence.
I have insight and understanding treating people who deal with issues relating to frequent moves and relocations, including people who identify as Global Nomads and Third Culture Kids. I, myself, have dual nationality with the United States and the United Kingdom and I lived internationally as a youth for 15 years, attending International or American schools in France, Scotland, England, Thailand, Malaysia, and Venezuela.
I continue personal work to become more aware of my privilege and internalized racism and prejudices. I aim to provide a safe, welcoming space for all people regardless of race, ancestry (national origin) gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, religious or spiritual beliefs, age, disability, body size, etc.
