My Approach to Helping
Therapy is about opening yourself up to new possibilities: unlocking new ways of being, thinking, and experiencing yourself in the world that will lead to greater satisfaction and fulfillment in your life. I practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy which means that I believe knowing oneself deeply will create lasting change. My expertise is in helping people process difficult experiences and emotions, change habitual, negative cycles, and strengthen relationships. In individual therapy I treat a broad range of human struggles. With a warm and intuitive stance I seek to help you live at ease with yourself and the world--creatively, passionately and with vim and vigor!
When working with couples I also utilize attachment theory and EFT. I believe our primary relationships impact us on a deep and lasting level and therefore the health of these relationships is vital to our well-being. Are there old wounds, bad habits, or a general feeling of discontent getting in the way of your relationship? Together we can address how to de-escalate conflict, identify your particular negative communication cycle, and then increase nurturing, bonding, and intimacy. In a collaborative process we will identify what needs to be strengthened and nurtured between the two of you and eliminate the blocks that are keeping you from having the relationship you desire.
