My Approach to Helping
Hello everyone, my name is Christian Waller. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Master's degree from Augusta University in 2017. I have provided both individual and group therapeutic services to children, teens, and adults. Although my primary focus is working with processing trauma and reducing the effects of traumatic stress, I have experience working with anxiety, depression, OCD, anxietiesconcerns with discoveringexploring sexuality andor gender expression, addictions, and other areas that individuals would like to process in our therapeutic relationship.
I have been trained in providing several evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). While I use techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on personal goals and focuses, I am primarily a trauma and solution-focused clinician. It is important to be able to not only understand ourselves but being able to plan for how to grow and thrive.
I believe that goals are substantial in the therapeutic process, and although they might be hard to discover, they give us a guideline and somewhat of an endpoint. Not everything can be accomplished in a single session; short-term goals and long-term goals can help us maintain our focus. Having options and different routes can be overwhelming at times, but they also tend to show us that we have more choices than we initially thought we had.
I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion regardless of gender, age, sexuality, or any other difference. Being able to recognize and become open to both differences and similarities helps us create a more secure environment and it allows us to figure out how to meet your personal and specific needs. I look forward to working with you.
