My Approach to Helping

I believe that psychotherapy is one of the most powerful tools to bring healing and transformation to your life. Choosing to pursue psychotherapy is brave.

I approach each client uniquely but maintain a few key tenants in my practice. Each of these tenants is geared toward helping my clients create the life they are longing for.

I help my clients make positive changes in their lives. This can occur through internal shifts like emotional experiences or new insights. It can also be through external shifts like leaving a problematic relationship or beginning to exercise. I also work to create emotional safety in the therapy relationship. I believe that this occurs through a warm and trusting environment, and enables clients to feel connected and grow. Additionally, I view therapy as an opportunity to create a new way of relating to others. For example, if you are desiring to experience greater depth in your relationships we can start by practicing in the therapy relationship. Just as relationship dynamics from the “outside world” enter into therapy, the changes made in therapy will flow you into your other relationships. Finally, I see the mind and body as being connected and help my clients with chronic pain, improving memory, attention, and nervous system regulation through body-based approaches.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I genuinely love being a psychotherapist.
I feel a sense of joy in getting to be a part of my client's healing journey. I also understand how vulnerable how therapy can be, and admire anyone who is taking the leap toward getting what they want out of life, and better understanding themselves. My clients teach me something new every day. Whether it's something new about the world, something new about what it means to be a person or something new about myself, I am continually thankful for the positive impact my clients have on my own life.
