My Approach to Therapy

I honestly love my work. Working in LGBTQ+ mental health since 2013, I get to support clients with many different needs. A lot of my work focuses on: gender identity, medical and social gender transition, gender-affirming surgery prep & letters, coming out, self-esteem, HIVAIDS, nonmonogamy, kink, stigmadiscrimination, and building healthy relationships. My liberation-focused framework is collaborative, affirming, and intersectional. Beyond queer-specific issues, my focus also includes EMDR, trauma recovery, PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, & recovery from unhealthynarcissistic relationships. In my practice, I offer both EMDR (for those with trauma) and talk therapy (psychodynamic, CBT, ACT, attachment-focused). In traditional talk therapy, we'll note how your past impacts your present, and learn coping and communication tools together. In EMDR, we'll use special protocols & exercises to decrease triggers and trauma responses. It is so important that you feel good about the therapist you end up working with (whether it's me or someone else!). Talking to different providers and getting a feel for their vibe is a great way to see what feels right for you. Feel free to set up a consultation call so we can chat and you can ask me any questions you might have.
