My Approach to Helping
I have both a Bachelor and Master's degree in Social Work and have been working in the field for over 17 years. I have a vast knowledge base due to my various job experiences such as working as a Forensic Social worker, Homeless Family Advocate, Social Service liaison in the school system, Military Family Life Counselor, and owning my own counseling and consulting business.
I am a very unique therapist that really uses engagement, empathy, and rapport building to connect with my clients from the very start. This usually translates into a therapeutic connection with clients that helps to create an environment of trust and alliance. I will then help you to understand how your thoughts affect your feelings and your feelings lead to your behaviors in order to challenge any negative patterns that may arise. While at the same time helping you to make connections with your past upbringing, any trauma, and current life circumstances and how it all works together. The goal is to help each client to achieve their own level of homeostasis and further growth into self-actualization.
