My Approach to Helping
I enjoy exploring creative solutions to life’s challenges alongside clients. I became a therapist because witnessing the growth in others is fulfilling and inspiring. I appreciate the unique lessons and the insight that I gain by supporting clients in discovering the choices and paths that will work for them. Of course, I have been trained in a variety of modalities and I draw from different theories, but during our sessions, I am searching for the answers that are already within you. I believe that people already have the answers to life’s questions, and I believe that with validation, safety, and compassion they can create a plan to create a life that is filled with choices that align with their personal values.
And for those of you looking for something specific, I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, self-compassion, mindfulness, and dialectic behavior therapy. I also have many years of experience teaching anger management, batterer’s intervention, and parenting without violence.
For many years, I facilitated a court-ordered class for violent offenders, and most of my knowledge came from those experiences. I learned to whole-heartedly believe that people can change. I learned that people are not the choices they have made. And I learned the value and importance of boundaries and self-advocacy.
I am comfortable working with any age group, and I look forward to meeting you.
