My Approach to Helping
Arley Smith is a Licensed Counselor here to help you navigate through this journey called life. Counseling can be rewarding and challenging but it is worth it in the end. Arley has about 15 years of experience in mental health. She's worked with adults from early adulthood to the geriatric stage, children, adolescents, couples, and families. She has worked with various agencies and companies. This includes start-up companies, where she helped to build and develop therapeutic programs and establish companies, finding her niche and overcoming challenges. Arley brings passion into working with individuals who may struggle with depression and anxiety symptoms related to life stressors, childhood traumas, or those inherited within their family. Arley believes that human behavior is constantly evolving; every day you can learn new strategies to cope with life challenges. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and client-centered therapy. Arley Smith completed her Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2007. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 2005. She is the mother of three young children and understands that life can be challenging but there is always positivity and lessons learned from challenges. With a variety of work experience in mental health and outside of mental health, Arley is open-minded, patient, understanding, and flexible. Arley takes pride in learning from others and helping others through her education, experience, and research. She has always had a passion for helping others. Arley's philosophy is it takes a team effort to generate change. She will work with you collaboratively to develop goals and treatment to support your journey in improving your life and exploring new ways to manage conflict. Her motto is “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” She will teach you how to challenge your old way of thinking to see situations from a better or alternative perspective.
