My Approach to Helping
I believe my client's' problems and struggles are not always necessarily due to abnormal psychopathology, but can sometimes be normal reactions to living in a stressful, fast-paced, complex, evolving, and sometimes contradictory society. I strive to understand each of my client's issues and struggles in the context of his or her own lives rather than in reference to a theoretical model that focuses on pathology. Therefore, in our work together, I will always strive to understand you from your own life perspective(s), based on who you are, your values, your cultural beliefs, and the unique pressures and stresses you experience on a daily basis. Basically, I view my task, as a psychotherapist, as being the person that endeavors to accurately understand what it is you want out of therapy (and out of life), what is interfering or preventing you from accomplishing this yourself, and what you need to do differently in order to achieve or resolve it, and to coach and or guide you in your efforts.
