My Approach to Helping

I love working with couples and families of all types. Our relationships are the foundation of our lives and when there is a problem it often impacts everything. Problems often become noticeable during times of change (such as having children, moving or a job change) and can build up over time until they break the relationship. Couples often report having problems with communication, conflict management, intimacy, boundaries, parenting, and finances. Couples want to feel heard, understood, respected, connected, safe, and loved. They want to feel like their values and needs are honored in the relationship and they want to be a team.

Whether you come as an individual, a couple, or a family, we can work together to create strong positive communication in any relationship. This is often the first step in moving towards your goals. Discussing needs, values, and priorities in a safe, judgment-free environment can often help clients define a new path forward.

This work is my passion. Helping clients and seeing the transformation that happens is one of the most fulfilling parts of my life. One of the best compliments I have received from a client is that they felt comfortable talking to me about anything. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where clients can focus on creating the life they deserve.

What I Usually Need to Know to Help

My first question for all clients is, "What is your best hope for coming to counseling? How will you know that it has been helpful? How will you notice that counseling has been worth the time and money you will spend?"
Many people worry about the cost of counseling but often the cost of not getting help is so much more. What does a divorce cost? What is the cost of lost productivity at work? What is the cost of using drugs or alcohol to cope with problems? What difference will it make in your life if you invest in yourself, your family, and your relationship?
