My Approach to Helping

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to recognize your own strengths, have more self-compassion, and more control over your emotions? Heights Family Counseling specializes in working with the entire family. We work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples in order to help each individual recognize strengths and live a more meaningful life. We understand the unique challenges of each stage of life. As a counselor, we understand the bravery it takes to be completely vulnerable with another individual. Our role in the counseling room is to meet you right where you are with respect, compassion, non-judgment, and unconditional acceptance.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Experience and Specialties with Adults

We specialize in helping adults and individuals with life stressors, existential issues such as finding purpose and meaning, panic, anxiety, stress, anger, and depression. We work with women adjusting to the unique stages of life, such as marriage, work, motherhood, or seeking balance. We also help clients and families cope with the end of a relationship or marriage.

Services Provided for Children & Adolescents

We help children and teens via AD/HD coaching, counseling, and play therapy. In our work with children, we endeavor to support the entire family. This may mean supporting a struggling parent to manage a child with behavioral challenges, suggesting discipline strategies, or supporting better communication and a stronger connection.

Our training includes work with adults and children with special needs. We focus on cultivating strengths and coping skills and improving behavioral and emotional regulation. We also offer comprehensive evaluations for AD/HD and autism spectrum.

Comprehensive Evaluations

Amy Rollo has offered psychoeducational and therapeutic services for more than 15 years. She works with doctors, speech pathologists, diagnosticians, counselors, and psychologists. She views each challenge through several lenses. She believes a comprehensive evaluation can help clients identify strengths while promptly addressing concerns.

Groups I Work With

I have worked extensively with individuals experiencing life stressors including finding meaning and purpose in life, work-life balance, stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and frustration. I enjoy working with women to help with the struggles of adjusting to marriage, entering the work world, finding purpose in their work and motherhood. As a parent, I find true joy in helping couples and individuals adjust to the enormous changes that parenthood can bring. Additionally, I can help clients cope with the transition of ending a relationship or marriage.

Relationships are such an important part of our life. When going well, they provide love, support, and mutual happiness. When relationships struggle, sometimes it seems like everything in our life is struggling. I have a down to earth style when working with couples. I find it a privilege to enter a couple's personal and private world in order to change negative cycles and help to understand each other's perspectives. Together, we find a way to strengthen the relationship, speak each other's love language, heal through past pains, and communicate more effectively. I believe that every couple has the ability to work towards a loving and fulfilling relationship.

I have experience in play therapy and counseling children, adolescents, couples and adults. When working with children, I believe in working with the entire family system. Whether it is providing support to a parent who is struggling with a child with behavioral difficulties at home, suggesting discipline techniques, or building the family communication and connection together. My training includes working with children and adults with special needs where I focus on maximizing strengths, increasing coping skills, and working on emotional and behavioral regulation.
