My Approach to Helping
Hello! I’m currently accepting new clients. I believe therapy begins with creating an environment of safety, inclusion, trust and mutual respect for one another. I enjoy building this space together while we collaborate to explore your experiences, develop new skills to achieve your goals, and uncover inner strengths.
As members of the self-healing community, it's easy to get caught up in quick fixes and surface-level solutions. The truth remains: true transformation requires deep, therapeutic work. Telehealth therapy offers a safe, supportive space to confront our deepest fears, desires, and insecurities. By embracing this evolved form of therapy, we can tap into a profound level of healing, growth, and self-awareness. So, let's embrace this new era of therapy and discover the transformative power of telehealth for ourselves. Our minds, bodies, and spirits are worth it.
I have a wide range of expertise in treating trauma, depression, anxiety, substance useaddiction, and identity development. My background includes a specialization in LGBTQ+ Affirmative Psychology and 9 years experience working in substance use, dual diagnosis treatment, and community mental health.
Always remember that making the decision to enter therapy is evidence of your desire to grow, learn, and heal. Contact me for a no cost consult to determine how I can best fit your needs. I look forward to connecting with you soon!
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Therapy is a powerful tool for healing, offering a safe and supportive space to confront and overcome life's challenges. As author and mental health advocate, Matt Haig, so eloquently puts it, "Therapy is not about being 'cured'... it's about being heard, and being helped to understand yourself better." With a caring therapist, you can break free from the shackles of past traumas, release the weight of anxiety and depression, and discover a newfound sense of purpose and meaning.
As Dr. Marsha Linehan, founder of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, notes, "The goal of therapy is not to change the past, but to change how you feel about the past." Through therapy, you'll develop a deeper understanding of yourself, uncover hidden strengths, and cultivate resilience and self-awareness. By embracing therapy, you'll embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and growth, emerging stronger, wiser, and more whole.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
I am big on corrective emotional experiences - both personally and professionally. Encouraging my patients to work through their past negative experiences with a therapist may actually build insight into how to navigate current dysfunction in relationships with various people in your life. Also, this exploration may prove to expand your understanding of triggers that come from deeper parts of the unconscious. It is important to always lead with curiosity and to remember that two experiences are seldom alike.
