My Approach to Helping
I am an Individual and Couples counselor in Boise, ID. I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, my Master’s in Social Work at Boise State University, and am a licensed Clinical Social Worker. My approach emphasizes the mutual development of goals for therapy, along with an ongoing evaluation of the therapeutic relationship. I utilize an eclectic approach with Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, PlayInteractive Therapy, Polyvagal Therapy, EMDR-T, and continue to seek ongoing updates to my skills and knowledge base. I am invested in an integrative, dynamic, and holistic approach to mental health. I am particularly concerned with the impact of trauma and improving interventions to support trauma recovery for better emotional, physical, and relationship health.
Additionally, I believe in working in partnership with clients, utilizing strengths to help sort out challenges, and achieve goals. I realize how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faithspirituality in this process. It is more important than ever to take care of your mind-body connection.
Lastly, I have worked for multiple non-profits, Department of Corrections, Department of Health and Welfare, and the VA. I feel fortunate to be a part of so many people’s lives at different stages and ages in their journey. I am a native Idahoan, who was raised on a farm, knows how to milk a cow, and enjoys sharing Idaho trivia with anyone willing to listen. I believe in the innate power within each individual and helping develop life affirming techniques and behaviors.
