Looking to Grow? I specialize in helping people and relationships thrive.
Sometimes life can become lonely, anxious, or painful - our coping skills can be overwhelmed leading to symptoms of distress. Most people are doing the best they know how and still can have difficulty with these symptoms - including starting and keeping close and gratifying relationships with others. Though I am an expert in thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships I do not have all the answers. Rather, through honest understanding of your experience, we notice how these things affect the way we treat ourselves and relate to others. I help depressed, exhausted, reactive, and worried people find new ways for coping and relationships.
I'm experienced helping parents understand what their child's behavior is trying to say - helping adults get what they want from relationships - and helping people cope in healthy ways from hurtful experiences. I can help with trauma, couples issues, depression, anxiety, grief, sexual issues, ineffective parenting, and adoptions.
My approach helps people gain awareness of themselves, grow in their emotional capacity, and increase their ability to relate with others. I am dedicated to helping you by offering solid experience, a safe & open presence, and a tailored approach so that you can grow and find new ways of relating to yourself, others, and the world.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
It is often thought that the purpose of therapy is to help people find relief from emotional pain. In reality it provides a space for insight and change where people can get the most from their lives and relationships. It can also serve to remove any obstacles there may be to functioning or growth. Therapy can help to resolve problems by using a therapist's knowledge and skills to identify issues and acquire new skills to improve or better cope with this. Therapy provides a safe space to understand your experiences in new ways that provide insight and allow people to affect to their decisions and behaviors. Therapy is active and collaborative with an end goal of helping you live without the need of a therapist. After therapy a person should be able to handle problems more adaptively, experience more rewarding relationships and productivity at work, or school, and have developed helpful insight into their thoughts, feelings, behavior, and relationships.
