My Approach to Helping

***COVID-19 UPDATE**
Until further notice, I have temporarily moved my practice to 100% telehealth during the pandemic.
------------------

Hi, my name is Sandy Kiaizadeh, and I'm a registered psychotherapist, life coach, hypnotherapist and mindfulness teacher at Toronto's Mindful Solutions Clinic.

I work with individuals with a variety of life's challenges - such as depression, anxiety, trauma, griefloss and day-to-day stress. Other clients I've worked with have sought help with me regarding their sense of self-worth, life purpose, life transitions, family conflict, vocational stress, or spirituality.

Whatever challenges you're currently facing, my general approach in working with you is one of acceptance, collaboration, openness, and most of all compassion. I am fluently English and French bilingual; and I work with adults of all ages, cultures, races, economic backgrounds and sexual orientations.

I look forward to working with you!

My Role as a Therapist

If you've found me on this web page, chances are you've realized that you're ready to make some changes in your life. I provide solution-focused psychotherapy and coaching that is primarily grounded in the practice of mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies. I believe that you already have the inner wisdom needed to achieve your well being and happiness; my role is to shine a light on your strengths, and guide you through a process of self-inquiry that will increase your insight, and help you feel more empowered to make lasting, positive changes in your life.

On the Fence About Going to Therapy?

I get it - therapy can be a scary thing, especially if you've never had counselling before! It takes a lot of courage to open up to a stranger and share your vulnerabilities with a therapist. My approach is very collaborative and gentle, and ultimately compassion-based.

If you're still on the fence after reading this profile, I invite you to take part in a free, no commitment, 30-minute telephone consultation with me. Give us the opportunity to talk and see if you would feel comfortable working through your concerns with me.

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

If you've had a negative therapy experience in the past, I encourage you to bring this to my attention during our first session. I work very collaboratively with my clients - I am a firm believer that you are the subject matter expert on YOU. The way I see it, you guide the content of our sessions, while I will guide the process. The sweet spot is when we both do our part during our work in sessions together. If something about my approach isn't working for you, I encourage you to tell me about it in the moment so that we can work through it together.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

This is the question I most often get asked by prospective clients. While situations vary from person to person, I will say that my theoretical influences all focus on brief modes of therapy and coaching. Most clients I work with begin to see powerful shifts in their lives within 3-4 sessions, and by the 10th weekly session, they've begun to incorporate new life tools and strategies they learned over the course of our work together, which significantly improves their day to day health and well being.
