I believe the goal and reward of therapy is to be free of excessive emotional pain and distress, to better manage life's stressors, to feel greater peace, and to realize a more fulfilling and satisfying life. I see therapy as the process to help you clear the way to achieve your goals or dreams, and to enjoy more satisfying and meaningful relationships both with yourself and with others. My clients have described me as a warm and compassionate therapist, and I see our work as a collaborative journey towards self discovery and healing. My style is supportive, relational, insight-oriented, solution focused, and always respectful of your individual process.

I am an experienced therapist having worked in both private and clinical settings as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and clinical director. Whether you are looking to heal any unfinished business from the past, or you seek concrete tools, I use a variety of approaches and techniques tailored to your individual needs. My goal is to help you feel comfortable, supported, and understood.

More Info About My Practice

In addition to traditional, in office counseling, I offer web-based therapy (think Skype but HIPPA-compliant, more secure). It's private video conferencing using a webcam connection. It's easy to use, even if you're technically-challenged. It's a great option for busy professionals. Teletherapy sessions can save you travel time, give you greater convenience in scheduling, and allow you to "see" your therapist from the privacy of your own home, office, or any other location where you have your computer.

Many of my clients use a combination of in-office and teletherapy sessions. It is easy to set up and we test the connection, free, in advance of our first session. My therapy fees are consistent with that of other providers of similar services in New Jersey and New York. I am an out of network provider and happy to help you with any questions you may have about how to apply for out of network reimbursement, if you are eligible. I also offer sliding scale rates in some cases. Some insurance companies are now accepting claims for teletherapy services. Please let me know if you would like to have this service reimbursed by your insurance company and I will provide you with the information you will need.

What I Love about Being a Psychotherapist

I came to be a therapist after years as a journalist, filmmaker, university professor, and business owner. No other work has provided me with the personal rewards that the therapist-client connection brings. It is an honor to be invited into my clients' life experience and so rewarding to witness them feel better and realize their goals. I truly love my work.
