Reconnecting to your your deepest fullest life is what therapy is all about.
Lasting change and healing is possible as you break the repeating patterns which keep you stuck in destructive behaviors or limiting beliefs. You begin to thrive connected to renewed hope, creativity being more present to yourself and in relationships

I deeply trust the innate ability of the psyche towards healing and transformation. Advances in mind/brain research support this as they show that with adequate support old hurts and traumas can be processed in a safe way that can clear them at all levels of mind and body. This opens the way to live an embodied life led by your own deep wisdom freed from self limiting beliefs.

In light of this a safe, respectful space is created in our work together crafted to your individual needs. I provide a compassionate interactive presence and a strong belief in your innate healing capacity and help you learn to access and trust your strengths, wisdom and inner guidance. I draw from the best of traditional talk therapy as well as cutting edge processes from somatic and mind/brain research.

In my 18+years of practicing psychotherapy I have found that sharing your stories, hopes, fears and hurts and being listened to and heard is an important step in healing. But often just talking isn't effective in removing blocks and being freed to live the life and have the strong, caring relationships you desire.

You can feel like a boat ready to sail but dragging heavy anchors. These anchors can be pictured as the old, hurts, wounds, disappointments and traumas you have experienced. Along with this you also carry the heavy beliefs which grew up around these events. Beliefs like "I am unlovable" "The world isn't safe." If I open to life and love I will be hurt." "I will never have what I need." and on and on. Clearing these traumas and beliefs is essential because they block the healing and change you are working towards.

I am trained in somatic/body methods, visionary craniosacral work, Emotional Freedom Technique, art, sand tray, dream work. My work has taught me that combining these modalities with compassionate dialogue is effective in clearing blocks and opening up new possibilities for living the life you have longed for.

I also find that I work well with people of all ages who are intense and creative and tend to live out side the box. People who often feel misunderstood and are sometimes labeled as being too much or too sensitive which leads to feeling isolated and withdrawing, hiding their true gifts and nature. People who have rich inner lives with deep longings to connect and live fuller richer lives in the world

I am passionate about my work as a psychotherapist and am committed to supporting adults, children, teens and couples find their way through the difficulties and challenges of life. I believe and have witnessed that real freedom and change is possible. You deserve the opportunity to reconnect to the innate purpose and joy of living your unique life

It may be that when we no longer know what to do,
we have come to our real work
and when we no longer know which way to go,
we have begun our real journey. Wendell Berry

My work with couples is based on supporting them to be able to communicate and relate in a way which allows them to work through conflicts with care and understanding. My work is informed by the book "How we Love" which provides a framework to understand and healing longstanding ways of relating based on early experience and attachment. Old wounds can be healed so that new freedom and fulfillment in relating becomes the flavor of your relationship

In my work with children I use play therapy including sand tray and art. I support children and their families to work through the challenges of life so that a child can be free to develop in a healthy way and express their unique gifts and talents. I meet a child where they are in a caring nonjudgmental way. Among the issues I work with are ADHD, anxiety, grief and loss, divorce, trauma and abuse. I am an advocate for children and their right for a healthy life and world. I work closly with parents and support them in the important job of guiding their child.
I also offer parent groups and consultation.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I am adept in helping people work through trauma including PTSD. I incorporate empathetic relational talk therapy with body based methods. Using body based therapies such as EFTA, an adaptation of Emotional Freedom technique and cranioscral therapy can release the long standing patterns of beliefs and reactions we hold in our mind and bodies. Beliefs and reactions which are often unconscious but which keep us tied up causing problems and anxiety in our present ways of living and relating. Clear traumas and abuses at this level frees us up to live life open to new possibilities and freedoms.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a space and time that you set aside for yourself to slow down and listen to what your mind body, and emotions are telling you. Our symptoms such as fear, anxiety, depression are indicators in the same way that physical symptoms that something need attention and healing. Psychotherapy can support us in freeing our self from the old baggage of past traumas and the beliefs which arise out of them. It also supports us to be in our life in the present moment with clarity of thought so that our choices feed our own well being and joy
