My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
My role as therapist is to support you in deepening and understanding the patterns that continue to block one from being successful in life. To make the implicit explicit in order to change our self defeating behaviors and move forward in a positive, healthy way.
I am an attachment oriented, collaborative and experiential therapist who recognizes the power of emotion that allows each client to explore, reshape and grow. I focus on the relationship between us and am aware the therapy experience must be in a safe place. I create a safe haven and secure base by being emotionally present with clients both individually and as a couple and this allows us to create a corrective emotional experience where healing can take place. The power of acceptance and responsiveness allows clients to let go of defensiveness while tuning in to deeper emotions and creating a more ordered, coherent, meaningful story about who they are and how their world is.
I find the process of self-discovery using a relational attachment perspective is exciting and challenging. I truly believe that people have an innate potential to grow and heal. You possess the needed inner resources to make these changes happen, allowing the real possibility of happiness, joy and personal understanding. What makes me successful as a therapist is my ability to pinpoint the issues and to address them directly with clarity, courage and compassion.
