My Approach to Helping
Inividuals and families often seek therapy when they're stuck in ineffective patterns of relating to each other or to a diffictult situation, or they've experienced a crisis or sudden loss. We sense that things can be better, should be better but don't know how to get there. Therapy with a skilled and compassionate therapist can guide one toward a more fulfilled, empowered and healthy life. Additionally, effective therapy facilitates moving through grief and loss and creates room for hope and joy in life again.

More Info About My Practice
I specialize in working with adolescents and their families but also have extensive experience working with adults as well. I provide a direct yet gentle approach to those I work with and I collaborate with them to create a more satisfying life. I also offer a unique approach to therapy using equine-assisted psychotherapy. This approach is very effective with children and adolescents and helps clients who have found traditional psychotherapy to be ineffective.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I feel comfortable working with those experiencing depression and anxiety, co-dependence, low self-esteem, substance use, grief and loss and parenting/family relational issues. I worked for over five years in adolescent treatment centers before starting graduate school. In graduate school I specialized in working with adults and after graduating in 2000, I have worked with both teens and adults. I absolutely love working in private practice and collaborate with clients to tackle their treatment goals. I am continually impressed with the courage of those I work with and much of what I do is to help them see this strength in themselves too! Clients sometimes ask what my clinical approach is and I utilize an eclectic approach with a focus on cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral and family systems techniques. I create a safe place for clients to express their feelings and provide insight, feedback and guidance. I am passionate about working with others and welcome any questions. I also offer phone appointments to those who need it.
