Information Collection and Use
GoodTherapy.org collects information from Clients and Users at a number of different points on our website.
(A) When a Client sends an email to a Member through the GoodTherapy.org website, the Client’s name, phone number, email address, and message is recorded as part of the transmission process.
This information is kept confidential and is made available only to (1) trained GoodTherapy.org support team members for purposes of administering GoodTherapy.org, such as moderating for spam or other content that is in violation of GoodTherapy.org terms of service, and (2) the therapist(s) Member(s) to whom the User sends the email. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
When a User emails a therapist Member through the GoodTherapy.org email messaging system, the User is conveniently and automatically emailed a notification when the therapist has been contacted. Additionally, when a User emails a therapist through the GoodTherapy.org email messaging system, they may be automatically subscribed to our monthly email newsletter. Users may unsubscribe from this newsletter by completing the unsubscribe form found here. (B) When a Client calls a Member through the telephone number posted on the GoodTherapy.org website, standard caller identification information is collected and forwarded to the Member, and may be stored by GoodTherapy.org for use in administering its services. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
(C) GoodTherapy.org collects information entered by therapists when they register (or try to register) for Membership or public membership. The information about the therapist's practice is made public and can be viewed in any GoodTherapy.org profile. The other information (including but not limited to username, email address, password, etc.) is kept private in a database and may be used by our internal departments if needed (such as debugging errors or analyzing outcome of marketing campaigns). GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
(D) GoodTherapy.org collects User email addresses when Users subscribe to the blog. This email address is used to send such Users blog post or blog comment summaries and Users can unsubscribe anytime using unsubscribe option(s) found in the email and/or on the site. GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
(E) GoodTherapy.org collects information entered by Users when they register (or try to register) for a public web conference or public non-professional membership. This information (including but not limited to name, username, email address, password, etc.) is kept private in a database and may be used by our internal departments if needed (such as debugging errors or analyzing outcome of marketing campaigns). GoodTherapy.org never rents, sells, or gives this information to any third party.
GoodTherapy.org uses Google Analytics Advertising Features. This includes, but is not limited to, user-directed marketing, geographic-directed marketing, remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Display Network Impression Reporting, DoubleClick Platform Integrations, and Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting.

No personally-identifiable information collected by GoodTherapy.org will be merged with non-personally identifiable information collected through any Google advertising product or feature.
(I) GoodTherapy.org may use other web analytics services and/or software to collect information about users’ browsing activities. This information is used to analyze the performance of the website and associated marketing campaigns. Some of the services/software like Google Analytics may store this information on their own servers.
GoodTherapy.org does not sell or otherwise provide personally identifiable information collected through its website and services to third parties, except as specifically authorized by the User or Member, such as a Member profile, blog post, User email to a Member, or other authorized disclosures of information. bif:GoodTherapy.org may disclose personally identifiable information about Users or Members, if such disclosure is (a) required by subpoena, law, or other legal process; (b) necessary to assist law enforcement officials or government enforcement agencies; (c) necessary to investigate violations of or otherwise enforce our Terms of Service for Members or Terms of Service and Use; (d) necessary to protect us from legal action or claims from third parties including you and/or other Users or Members; and/or (e) necessary to protect the legal rights, personal/real property, or personal safety of GoodTherapy.org, our Users, Members, employees, and affiliates. Additionally, GoodTherapy.org reserves the right to disclose personally identifiable information about a User or Member if GoodTherapy.org reasonably believes that using or disclosing such information may prevent physical harm to one or more individuals or public safety
Like most standard website servers, GoodTherapy.org uses log files. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track users’ movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information contained in user profiles.

You will have to provide a payment source (i.e. credit card) to become a member of GoodTherapy.org. You understand that we use FirstData to process your payment source for providing our website and/or services to you. You understand and agree that we cannot control nor can we be liable for the acts of FirstData. If you see what you believe to be fraudulent transactions regarding payments to our website, please contact us immediately. We will work with you, FirstData, and authorities as best we can to help resolve such issues.
Our Email Policy
GoodTherapy.org and our affiliates fully comply with the CAN-SPAM Act as enacted in the United States. You can always opt out of receipt of further email correspondence from GoodTherapy.org and/or our affiliates. We agree that we will not sell, rent, or trade your email address to any unaffiliated third-party.
Our Security Policy
GoodTherapy.org uses reasonable safeguards to protect personally identifiable information about Users and Members. When our registration/order form asks users to enter sensitive financial information (such as credit card number), that information is encrypted and is protected with SSL. All personally identifiable information we store about Users and Member is required to be stored only in authorized, secured servers or media in secure facilities. Only GoodTherapy.org administrators or employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, our billing clerk or a customer service representative) are granted access to such personally identifiable information. All employees are trained and kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices. Any time new policies are added, our employees are trained in the policies.
