My Approach to Helping
I have to be a good listener to have a positive impact in people's lives. Often the seed for change comes from an uncomfortable feeling or some other signal that something is wrong in a person's life. I have to hear and appreciate both how difficult it can be to address issues and the longing for a better life. I also have 25 years of experience in the Art & Science of Clinical Psychotherapy. Although I'm an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University of California Berkeley, I'm continue to learn from my clients and graduate students about how to be a good listener. Please see review my website for more details.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have spent a great deal of time thing about, studing, and exploring what make good relationship work. In this regard, I have done my own reflective considersions of my own relationships along with exploring the relationships of others (family, friends, and clients). Over time, I have developed extensive experience working with relationship issues. That includes pre-marriage, marriage conflicts, family conflicts, affairs, divorce, and the transition after divorce. I believe that the strengh of and security within the relationship bond is one central feature related to an individual\\\'s overall positive well being and enhanced quality of life. People come to psychotherapy for different reasons, thus it is very important for a psychologist to explore and understand each person unique motivation. Therapy has to be non-judgemental. To the extent I can welcome and validate the life experiences and deep internal feelings and thoughts of people; just as I would want my own feelings and thoughts validated and heared ... If, I can do that then therapy can be most effective with removing the blocks for change and encouraging new behaviors, thoughts, and feelings.
