My Approach to Helping
My approach to healing is first and foremost a nonjudgmental and collaborative one. I believe that each one of us is a natural reservoir of courage, strength, and wisdom. What becomes more difficult at certain times during the life span is the ability to access these aspects of the self. Particularly during periods marked by stress, loss, and/or increasingly tenuous external conditions that are outside of our control, it is often extremely helpful to have someone to assist you in resuming the process of uncovering and accessing strengths. I believe this to be my key role as a therapist: assisting the client in accessing the unique gifts that he/she has to offer the world and enabling him or her to become more content, peaceful, and fulfilled. Of course, these goals are always considered secondary to immediate symptom relief in cases where something very troubling has bubbled to the surface. In such situations, mood difficulties, anxiety, addiction recovery, relationship problems and so on will be addressed and stabilized before moving toward deeper issues.

More Info About My Practice
One of the best indicators of positive outcomes in therapy has long been identified as the therapeutic relationship itself. As such, the match between a client and his/her therapist is one of the most important aspects to consider when making the decision to begin or continue psychotherapy. I encourage you to take your time in this phase of the decision-making process... ask questions and do your research about people's training and approach to healing, and above all, always trust your instincts. Whatever your path, I wish you wellness and wholeness.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

To counter the stigma pervading the collective psyche that a person is "crazy," weak, or flawed should they need to seek the services of a psychologist at some point in the life span, I would like to assert that NO ONE can do this alone. This journey that we all traverse is challenging and we are a communal species living in an individualistic society; therefore, our abilities for manifestation are inherently limited by modernization in my opinion. To more directly offer a dynamic new model for healing, I have founded an organization, CAFE RITUALâ„¢ and my earnest hope is that we may gather together to empower one another to awaken and manifest each person's highest potential. Our next gathering, a women's healing circle entitled, "THE POWER OF THE VILLAGE: A Journey to Reconnect, " is a 7-week experiential workshop affording women the opportunity to replenish, quietly look inward, and engage in creative & ancient healing practices with the support of community, after all of the stress and hustle and bustle of holiday preparations & gatherings. Please join us if you have the desire to begin the new year at the confluence of quiet inner exploration and heartfelt connection, nurturing a most creative, authentic, and empowered 2012 for all! See www.sfpsychservices.com/content/caferitual.asp for more information, to register for the healing circle, and/or for further information regarding nature-based retreats for both men and women... and I hope to hear from you very soon!
