My Approach to Helping
The heart and emphasis of my work is to help you know and trust your deepest feelings and to live an emotionally authentic life. When you become more intimate and present with yourself you become more intimate and authentic with others.
My personal style is warm, interactive and non-judgmental. In a safe, supportive environment, we'll explore your vital concerns through compassionate, engaged self-inquiry. Blending mindfulness practice with an experiential, somatic approach, we'll discover creative, practical ways to help you follow your inner truth and make better life choices. I'll assist and guide you in grieving important losses, managing your stress, anxiety and depression and developing more conscious, fulfilling relationships.
If you feel burdened by any of the following concerns, I believe I can assist you in creating positive change in your life:
~An affair has shattered your world leaving you devastated and grief-stricken.
~Perhaps you're struggling with overwhelming anxiety, dread or depression. It impacts your work, relationships and ability to pursue your goals and dreams.
~Your relationship is an endless cycle of disappointing miscommunications. You both end up feeling misunderstood and unappreciated. You're afraid things will never change for the better.
~Maybe you're single and you long for a meaningful relationship but it's hard to trust again.
~You keep putting off what matters to you most. You're afraid to risk doing what you love because of self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors.
~Stress from work, parenting, and/or caring for an ill or dependent parent, partner or child is causing you to feel overwhelmed and burned-out. Maybe you feel it's impossible to find time for yourself.
I've helped couples and individuals develop healthier ways of coping with personal and relationship challenges for close to 20 years. As you discover how certain emotions, behaviors and beliefs have shaped your life and relationships you'll become empowered to make many important changes. With therapy, individuals and couples often experience increased self-trust and self-awareness, greater life purpose and more loving, enjoyable and intimate relationships.
My areas of specialization include: couples counseling, recovery from affairs, loss of self in relationships, conscious communication, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, caregiver burnout and life transitions. I integrate Western psychology, mindfulness practice, dream work and Hakomi techniques (www.hakomicalifornia.org), into my practice.
My office is located at 711-D Street in central San Rafael. My fees are $130 for a 55 minute session. I have a limited number of sliding fee scale openings. I accept Anthem Blue Cross insurance.
