My Approach to Helping
The central idea in my approach is that people are not "€œbroken". Everyone makes the best choices they can, based on their experiences and life situation. However, over time those choices and the resulting coping mechanisms may hold you back from growing and reaching your goals.

I am here to help clients reach the goals they set for themselves. My job is to help clients identify new choices that match their values. Together we will work to create movement in your life towards your stated values and goals.

My theoretical approach is eclectic. I am most strongly influenced by the work of Carl Rogers and his Person-Centered approach to therapy. I use a lot of mindfulness techniques, such as those found in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Since I do not adhere to a single theoretical approach, I use a variety of techniques that I think will benefit individual clients. I do not have a "€œone size fits all"€ mentality when it comes to counseling.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Transformation. There is a saying that "Change is inevitable but growth is optional." I help people either create desired change in the lives or adapt to change occuring to them in healthy ways.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

To allow you to create a life based on your values. You have to start by learning to be a better feeler. Self-awareness allows you to start to create growth in your life. You can not change or address what you do not know. Once you have awareness, then you can determine what you can change, what you can let go, and start to create a life that supports your values.

My Role as a Therapist

My role is to help you create the outcomes you want from therapy. I firmly believe that everyone has the capability to create the life they desire; we just sometimes need some help in finding the path from where we are to where we want to go.
